Rivaling the most prominent traditional bricks and mortar fan conventions, the Blair Witch WebFest featured live streamed programming and engaging interactive events while inviting participation from the worldwide community of horror and science fiction fans, genre specialists, horror film directors, actors, comic book writers, animators, game developers and soundtrack artists.The three-day WebFest was a 3 day event at http://www.blairwitchwebfest.com. WebFest registrants had the opportunity to enter to win the Blair Witch WebFest Sweepstakes. The sweepstakes prize is concert tickets to Marilyn Manson’s tour stop in Minneapolis and a private screening of Book of Shadows: Blair Witch 2 with the musician.
“Community, either physically or on the Internet, has always been a great way for fans of film and properties with great depth to share their experiences, exchange information and converse with individuals that have similar interests and passions,” said Amorette Jones, Executive Vice President, Worldwide Theatrical Marketing for Artisan Pictures. “With WebFest we are attempting to offer participants a new take on a traditional event, allowing them direct access to a convention’s festivities as if they had their own VIP pass.”
34 North’s Amye Osti was executive producer of the Internet streaming media channel to promote the Blair Witch WebFest, a 64-hour virtual event that will invite participation from horror and science fiction fans, genre specialists, horror film directors, actors, comic book writers, animators, game developers and soundtrack artists.
The Blair Witch Channel debuted at 9 a.m. Pacific Time on Sunday, Oct. 15, with a three-day countdown to the launch of the Blair Witch WebFest and showcased feature film clips and trailers, contests, multimedia e-mail, links to many interactive sites and events, as well as additional sci-fi and horror content.
Other highlights of the WebFest included first-look footage from the film and real-time video chats with director Joe Berlinger and cast members. Additional programming included Q&A chats and panel discussions, live musical performances from artists on the Book of Shadows: Blair Witch 2 soundtrack, auctions, file sharing, virtual art galleries, game play, prize giveaways, chats, 3-D chat environments and “making of” footage.
