MAP MAKER (available using open layer of JavaScript with ArcServer extensions APIs)

Develop and manage key GIS data layers and other syndicated or publicly accessible layers such as conservation areas, species ranges, and ecosystems, as well as reference layers such as roads, islands and tracts and water bodies.  The data layers will be combined in an open architecture interactive map interface to produce rich and accessible atlas or atlases.

The live map will also allow users to view and interact with a live service which streams the data directly from the publishers web servers or the web servers created for the website.  With the map viewer users can view live conditions, zoom and pan, identify features, access the encyclopedia, view projects and practically anything that can be geo-referenced.  The user can also save the map view to open later or share with others via a permanent URL that can be emailed to people or other websites.  What will be especially unique and useful is that the map viewer will let users overlay or mashup data layers from their project profile or different servers which may be hosted by different organizations using different protocols (ArcIMS, Web Map Server (WMS)).  For example, by searching the map for a particular project like Steelhead, users could discover 3 different maps from NOAA, Fish and Game and USGS delineating conservation priority areas.  Then, with a click of a mouse the live maps can be overlaid together in the viewer along with satellite imagery (Google Maps or Virtual Earth).  Users can then zoom and pan to their area or interest, turn layers on and off, adjust transparencies, and save the map to a URL that can be sent to colleagues via their user profile pages.  The end result is the same map view worked on by their colleagues but they can now work with the live map and add layers or make adjustments.  Each of these views can then be saved to the project page where all map views will be made available for reference and comparison.

Map Service Tools:  Full Screen, Default View, Save View to project pages and map room, Add WMS layer (real-time), draw and save drawing.
Map Service Base Layers:  Google Maps, Virtual Earth, ESRI

Note:  Fees do not include ArcServer, Google Maps or Bing Maps Licensing.

LIVE CONDITIONS  AND REAL TIME MONITORING  STATION MANAGER

The need for real time data at your fingertips is becoming increasing important for natural resource managers.  The Live Conditions Service aggregates live station data to the Map Service.   The data just needs to be in tabular format, RSS enabled or JSON.

COLLABORATIVE PROJECT MANAGER AND FILE SHARING SYSTEM

The OpenNRM web service project manager is a project based secured walled garden for all stakeholders participating in a project. The specific project for your organization and related partner projects can be made private and accessible to only the project team members and or create a page for public accessibility. The user/project team leader can create project page(s) accessible to all project team members with the following tools:
1.  Invite Members
2.  Customize Interactive Map Layers & Live Conditions bookmarks to display important real time data on your profile pages.
3. Upload, Share and Email Project Information: Documents, Presentations, Map layers, Multimedia, Datasets
4. Access and Search the Project Catalog
5. Project Sources
6.  Store and display information and use a presentation tool.
7. Access to user generated, custom species, land, water or infrastructure libraries specific to the project

WIKI ENCYCLOPEDIAS

Create the most comprehensive online encyclopedia for anything related to The Estuary and its watershed.  The user-generated encyclopedia will contain WIKI functionality for authoritative figures including scientists, educators, managers and more to add information and important metadata to all categories including:   Rivers & Streams, Islands & Tracts, Plant Species, Animal Species, Land Features, Infrastructure Features and Projects, Land Use, Environmental Restorations Projects, Agriculture etc.

Each encyclopedia page will support all media types including video, images, interactive maps, reports and news articles so that managers have all required information about a topic in one place.  Each topic will also be geo-referenced and linked directly to the Live Map Service so that users can move quickly and seamlessly from reading about steelhead critical habitat to seeing it on a map and then sharing it with colleagues.  The community functionality designed into the encyclopedia will make sharing topics with colleagues easy by either sending the topic via email or adding the topic to your project pages as a relevant encyclopedia topic for the project at hand.

Most importantly is the fact that the wiki encyclopedia is built by the stakeholders in the community.  Images, videos, articles, reports etc. are easily uploaded to the topics main page via the encyclopedia manager.  Managers of these pages may also edit and delete these pages as new information becomes available.

SCIENCE CENTER

The science center will showcase important USER GENERATED scientific topics by aggregating all information from the topic authorities and displaying it in an easy to use interface.  The science pages will have a state of the art media viewer, document catalog, embedded map viewer, wiki editing functions, related documents, related links, etc.

NEWS

The news section will summarize daily news events related to the estuary in an easy to use RSS format.  The user may also add their favorite RSS feeds to a widget to consolidate watershed news into one easy to use interface.
