Watershed Classroom and Data Lab (WDL)

Watershed Data Lab provides schools with web-based tools to easily incorporate data science and watershed into existing NGSS curriculum.   Data management, geographic information systems, cataloguing, programming, experimental design, field data collection techniques and protocols are all skills needed by our future workforce and can be learned using standard concepts like watershed science. The core components of the WDL platform include visual catalogs (for images, videos, documents), a mapping application (for learning GIS, viewing data and map features), wiki (for definitions and references), a data services engine (for aggregating and using public data) and data analysis tools. Schools can use education modules and user templates for teaching data science fundamentals, collecting and analyzing data, making assessments and telling stories. The extensive and flexible content management system allows schools to retain and archive valuable content while also safeguarding the security and privacy of students from external online threats. The WDL platform fosters student inquiry into the natural world that enforces key principles of data management and analysis environmental sustainability and natural resource management, while fostering environmental stewards from a young age.

Bay-Delta Live, Collaborative and Open Data Management for California Water

Bay-Delta Live is a collaborative community of interests with the goal of expanding open and transparent sharing of information essential in understanding the complex and dynamic ecosystem of the Sacramento-San Joaquin Bay Delta.  A highly customized OpenNRM application, Bay-Delta Live provides information from multiple sources using maps, data dashboards, data stories and mobile applications. Bay-Delta Live is used by resource managers, scientists, conservationists, policy makers, academics, and other local community interests. BDL is supported through contributions from federal and state agencies, as well as community and agency information. Bay-Delta Live provides accurate, and unbiased data for environmental decision-making in California's most important estuary.

Collaborative Natural Resource Management in the Sacramento River Watershed, OpenNRM Data Platform

The Sacramento River Watershed Data Portal provides stakeholders with access to current watershed conditions data from hundreds of data sensors and monitoring programs.  Explore historical data, water quality assessment, forest health and ecosystem restoration.  Users can discover, synthesize and download more than 200 map layers and data sets.  Go in depth with data stories on important topics including forest health, river water temperature, dam operations and fisheries management.

Real Time Fisheries Decision Support Sacramento-San Joaquin Bay Delta

Accessing more than 48 disparate datasets, the Bay-Delta Live (BDL) decision support and data dashboards for fisheries provide the Delta Operations for Salmonids and Sturgeon and Smelt Working Group technical teams with a platform for visualizing, comparing and analyzing data from surveys and real-time monitoring. The dashboard moves beyond real time data analysis real-time data to real-time synthesis by providing an interactive and collaborative tool for developing and testing new hypotheses about fishery responses to water operations in the San Francisco Estuary.
